ISO has developed a standard (ISO 22000) for food safety systems based on HACCP. This standard establishes requirements for a food safety management system aimed at all links in the food chain. ISO 22000 ' combines the best of both worlds ' and is based on basic hygiene conditions and the HACCP-standard of the Codex Alimentarius. Effective management is based on quality management standard ISO 9001. The standard is chain driven and applies to companies in the agro food sector, ranging from primary production to retail, and supply companies such as the packaging and sanitation industries.
